ABOUT LANE CHANGE ALERT WITH SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT

Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert can provide side-mirror visual alerts when a detected moving vehicle is quickly approaching or is in your side blind zone. It can help you avoid lane change collisions.

HOW IT WORKS

Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert uses hidden radar sensors in the rear corners of your vehicle. When you’re driving forward, these sensors can detect moving vehicles located behind your side mirror in the next lane over.

Lane Change Alert and Side Blind Zone Alert are two features that work together. Side Blind Zone Alert alerts you if there’s a vehicle currently in your blind zone, and Lane Change Alert alerts you to fast-approaching vehicles that will soon enter your blind zone.

WHAT YOU’LL SEE WHEN LANE CHANGE ALERT WITH SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT ACTIVATES

When you start your vehicle, you’ll see both sideview mirror alerts briefly come on — this tells you the system is working. Additionally, the sideview mirror alerts briefly when the feature is turned back on, if it was off in the same key cycle.

Once you’re driving, if the system detects a vehicle in your side blind zone or a fast-moving vehicle approaching your lane change zone:

  • A yellow warning symbol will light up on the sideview mirror on the side where the system has detected the vehicle
  • If you turn on your turn signal in that direction, this warning symbol will flash as an extra warning to not change lanes

HOW TO TURN LANE CHANGE ALERT WITH SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT OFF

You can turn off Lane Change Alert from your infotainment system screen in the Vehicle Personalization menu.

The on or off setting you’ve chosen for this system will stay the same once you shut the vehicle down and start it again, so if you’ve turned Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert off and want to use it again, you’ll need to remember to turn it back on.

THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN USING LANE CHANGE ALERT WITH SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT

  • You should always check your mirrors, glance over your shoulder and use turn signals before changing lanes
  • Use your turn signal every time you change lanes. If there’s a vehicle in your blind zone, the alert system is designed to flash a warning on that side
  • Always be prepared to avoid vehicles in your blind zone, even when you don’t see a warning
  • The system may light up a warning indicator due to guardrails, signs, trees, shrubs and other non-moving objects. This is normal operation
  • Under bad weather or poor visibility conditions, the system might not function as intended. Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert uses sensors in the rear bumper to detect vehicles in your blind spot. Keep the sensor areas clear of obstructions such as dirt or snow to keep the system working properly
