HOW TO USE ONE-PEDAL DRIVING AND REGEN ON DEMAND

If your electric vehicle is equipped with One-Pedal Driving and Regen on Demand, they can help you slow down and stop your vehicle under certain conditions. You can use them separately or use them together.

Important: You should always use the brake pedal when you need to stop urgently.

HOW TO USE ONE-PEDAL DRIVING

One-Pedal Driving lets you use only your accelerator pedal to help control the deceleration of the vehicle or bring it to a complete stop under certain conditions.

Before you can use One-Pedal Driving, you have to turn it on. You can do so in the vehicle’s Settings menu or using the Driver Mode Control knob.

  1. On the infotainment screen, tap the SETTINGS icon (a gear). Then, select Vehicle Settings > Driving > One-Pedal Driving. From here, you can turn One-Pedal Driving on or off and also customize the level of braking:
    • Off: Disable One-Pedal Driving for traditional two-pedal driving, similar to a gasoline vehicle.
    • On: Uses a moderate level of braking when the accelerator pedal is released while you’re driving.
    • High: Uses a strong level of braking when the accelerator pedal is released while you’re driving, which slows the vehicle more aggressively.
  2. For faster access, you can also turn One-Pedal Driving on or off using the Driver Mode Control knob. Turn the knob to bring up the moding options on the infotainment screen, then tap the One-Pedal Driving icon (a foot on a pedal) to turn it on or off.
  3. When One-Pedal Driving is engaged, the position of your accelerator pedal determines how the vehicle will behave — either accelerating, coasting, slowing down quickly, slowing down gradually or coming to a complete stop.
    • Press down on the accelerator pedal to accelerate, as usual.
    • When you take your foot completely off the accelerator pedal while you’re driving, the vehicle will slow down quickly (based on your selected settings).
    • If you lift your foot off the pedal only part way, the vehicle will slow down more gradually. You can control how aggressively the vehicle slows down by adjusting how much you lift off the accelerator pedal or by adjusting your settings.
    • To continue driving, press the accelerator pedal.
  4. While using One-Pedal Driving, you can also continue to use your brakes as needed to slow or stop the vehicle.

Use this feature alone or along with Regen on Demand, which uses the paddle on the back of your steering wheel.

HOW TO USE REGEN ON DEMAND

Regen on Demand lets you use the paddle on the back of your steering wheel to slow the vehicle down more quickly.

  1. To use Regen on Demand, pull the paddle on the back of your steering wheel toward you and hold it.
  2. The vehicle will slow down more quickly. You can release the paddle when you want to continue normal driving.
  3. If the vehicle is brought to a complete stop while you’re holding the paddle, the vehicle will not creep forward when you release the paddle. Use the accelerator pedal to move forward.
  4. While using Regen on Demand, you can also continue to use your brakes as needed to slow or stop the vehicle.

You can use this feature on its own or together with One-Pedal Driving.

CONDITIONS AFFECTING ONE-PEDAL DRIVING AND REGEN ON DEMAND

In some conditions, these features can’t work as effectively. For example, if your battery is fully charged, or in Regenerative Power Limited condition, the ability to use these features to slow down or stop the vehicle may be reduced. When this happens, the vehicle's normal brakes will blend in as needed. Also, these features are not recommended for use in slippery road conditions (wet, snowy or icy roads) or on steep hills.

When I’m using One-Pedal Driving or Regen on Demand, will my brake lamps still turn on when the vehicle is stopping?

Yes. When you lift your foot off the accelerator to slow the vehicle, your brake lamps will turn on to alert other drivers. However, on some models, the brake lamps will not remain on while the vehicle is stopped, so you may want to press your brake pedal to turn the lamps on.
